Correct Disk Filling - Single-Use Disks
Instructions:
- Handle with Care: Avoid touching LaMotte Spin Disk's the top and bottom. Fingerprints can interfere with light readings, affecting results. Hold the disk by the edges.
- Prepare the Syringe: Ensure the syringe is empty by pushing the plunger down completely. You don't want leftover water from previous tests.
- Fill the Syringe:
- Insert the syringe tip fully into your water sample.
- Slowly pull the plunger back to fill the syringe.
- To remove air bubbles, gently tap the filled syringe to release them upwards. Push a little water out to expel any remaining bubbles.
- Position the Disk: Place the disk on a flat, clean, and dry surface. Never attempt to fill it while holding it or inside the testing device.
- Fill the Disk:
- Insert the syringe tip vertically into the designated fill hole on the disk. The syringe should stand upright on its own if inserted correctly.
- Press the plunger slowly and smoothly to fill the disk.
- Watch the water fill the chambers between the baffles in a counterclockwise direction, from bottom to top.
- Fill to the Line: Continue adding water until the fourth chamber (the one furthest from the fill hole) fills completely to the top and slightly past the embossed fill line.
- Overfilling is okay: Excess water will flow out of a designated overflow hole in the center, and the disk won't leak. Simply dry the disk before testing.
- Underfilling is not okay: If you stop before reaching the fill line, the test results might be inaccurate.
Additional Tips:
- Refer to your specific test kit's instructions for any variations in the filling process.
- Fill and use the disk within 10 minutes for optimal accuracy. Avoid pre-filling the disk.
- Discard the used disk after testing.
